Our mission is to raise awareness for veterans' suicide prevention by engaging in impactful activities and creating a supportive community. Here are the core elements of our approach:
- Mission Purpose - Address the urgent need to raise awareness about the struggles faced by veterans. - Promote mental health conversations and offer crucial resources for veterans and their families.
- Community Engagement - Host meetups where veterans and their families can connect, share experiences, and access support. - Build a network of support to inspire others and advocate for improved mental health resources.
- Symbolism and Healing Activities - Road-marching: Symbolizes the long and challenging journey towards healing and understanding.
- Wilderness hikes and camping trips: Provide therapeutic environments for veterans to reflect, bond, and engage in mental health conversations.
- Mental Health Focus - Create outdoor experiences that reduce the stigma of seeking help and promote open dialogue. - Reinforce the message that reaching out for support is vital, and resources are available.
Public Awareness and Advocacy - Share personal stories to inspire others to join the cause and contribute to a movement for change. - Highlight the importance of solidarity and proactive measures in preventing veteran suicide.

Born in 1983 in Brownwood, Texas
I’m a former military service member who has always been driven by adventure and a love for the outdoors. My time in the military taught me the value of resilience, teamwork, and pushing limits, and now, through Ruck n' Roll ATX, I aim to bring that same spirit to a civilian setting. With a passion for fitness and camaraderie, I created this group to combine the rugged adventure of backpacking with the brotherhood that defined my military experience. Whether it’s a challenging hike or a laid-back camping trip, this club is about revisiting the glory days and sharing great times with like-minded individuals.
When I’m not hitting the trails, I spend my time staying active in Austin’s vibrant outdoor scene, preparing for new physical challenges, and working on creative projects. Ruck n’ Roll ATX is more than just a club—it’s a way of life that blends my love for the outdoors with the music, culture, and community that make Austin such a unique place. I hope to inspire others to lace up their boots, grab their rucks, and join the adventure.
